Day 42: General Store Candies

We visited Gold Hill today and loved it!  From the ghost stories, to the amazing town sheriff and friendly faces, there is so much charm in this town.  We can't wait to go back!

Day 41: Coal Miner's State

We went for a road trip to West Virginia to search through the state archives.  We found out that it was very common for someone to not even get a death certificate when they died in the coal mines.  I searched through newspapers and found tons of propaganda - but no obituaries.

Day 40: Vacation Time Again

Ahhhhh - vacation time - ready for a long weekend!

Day 39: Spring Is Here

Day 36: The Kinney-McPherson House 2012

Gramaw's House: This house was built by my Great-Great-Grandfather, William Henry Kinney.  I'm not sure what year it was built, but he died in 1930.  I have been told that my great-grandparents' family, John Monroe Kinney and Cornelia Caroline Newsom Kinney, lived here until John's death.  Many of my ancestors lived on this street.  Cornelia later married Samuel Way, and they moved a few houses down on Ross Street from the Kinney house.  My grandfather, Russell Harris Kinney, lived in the Kinney house when he was older with his grandparents, William Henry Kinney & Eliza Ann McPherson Kinney.   The story has been told that prayer meetings were held here, and this is where my grandparents, Russell Harris Kinney & Lillian Rae Saunders Kinney met.  When they were married, Lillian and Russell also moved into a house on Ross Street.  After William Kinney's death, Russell and Lillian moved back into the Kinney house, where she took care of Eliza Ann McPherson Kinney until her death.  The Kinney house was sold to my grandparents for around $4,000.00 for taking care of Eliza.  My mother and all of her siblings grew up in the Kinney house.  My great-grandmother, Naomi Myhaley Strider Saunders, also lived in the Kinney house before her death so her daughter, Lillian, could care for her while she was sick.  Naomi died in this house.  My mother said other people had died in the house too, but does not remember who.  Many of us grandchildren would not stay in the house alone.  From birth to death, there was a lot of life in the Kinney house.

Day 35: Dolphin Mouth???

Is the dolphin eating my niece or is my niece eating my dolphin?

Day 34: Everyone's A Little Irish

It is greeeeeen snack day at work to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.  Since I had an exam, I chose the no bake route, jabbed some sticks inside a few marshmallows, and threw a little green sprinkles in the air.  Sugar time!!!

Day 33: Caribbean Blue

Check out the new bling on my finger - alternate wedding ring while were were on our honeymoon.

Day 32: UFO Welcome Center

UFO WELCOME CENTER - E.T.S ONLY!  If you are out toward Bowman, SC, you can skip your visit to the UFO Welcome Center!  I don't think the doors to the spaceship were open today, but for $20 we could have taken a tour inside.  Thank you Mr. Pendarvis for being our alien ambassador!

UFO Welcome Center

Day 31: Island Life

Our GPS brought us to Sullivan's Island, not for the beauty, but because it is home to a haunted historical prisoner pit.  While there, we stumbled across beauty and fell in love with the little island.  If you visit, make sure to grab lunch at Poe's Tavern (home of The Cosmic Burger with peanut butter & bacon).

Day 30: What About a Picture of Me?

"Aren't you going to take a picture of me?" - Well of course!

Day 29: Phish Sword

My husband tested out a sword in the market.  It was from a sword fish and the artist used it as a canvas for her carvings. ON GUARD!

Day 28: Bob The Frog

Our towels would greet us each evening courtesy of Manny.  Tonight we met Bob - I was especially excited because frogs are my favorite.

Day 27: Honeymoon Sunset

Winding down the day with lemonade and this view was amazing! There was no land in sight and no concept of time!  Can this be every day please?

Day 26: Sunrise Honeymoon

Could the start to a long-awaited honeymoon be any more beautiful?  Our first view from the ship was this beautiful sunset with a large dolphin pod.

Day 25: Spring Break

We stayed the night at Myrtle Beach a day early and threw it down with the Spring Breakers at Senor Frogs.  I think we were the oldest ones there - but it was well worth the coconut shrimp and fish & chips!  YUMMY!

Day 24: One Year Paper Anniversary

Today is our one year wedding anniversary!  The first year is traditionally celebrated with a paper gift.  I was surprised to walk in the door to a paper swan made by my sweet husband.  For anyone that's in the cool kid's club, you will also see this swan has an added element - IT'S THE DHARMA SWAN!!!

Day 23: Scottish Highland

Who knew Brandon was a Scottish Highland?   This little guy made my day!  He was so sweet and had a thing for Brandon.  It must have been the beard - or more likely the food!

Bug spray, duct tape, new bikini, new Chucks - I think we have all we need for our honeymoon!

Day 21: Sick Sick Sick

This week the ick has visited the King house. NyQuil, throat spray, antibiotics please continue to work for us!

Day 20: Finance Exam Aced

Thursday was a great day! I made a 100% on my second Finance exam this semester.  This brought my B up to an A!

Day 19: Fall

This is the last day I missed this week, and is a picture taken in November when the leaves were turning.

Day 18: Leafy Leaf

I am cheating this day with another picture I took in October.  This was taken in a bog garden after a rain.

Day 17: Randleman Spider

This was a busy week for me and I missed a few days so I'm cheating.  Day 17 is a cheat day, with a picture I took in October.  This little guy was making his web on my parents' shed.  He was so interesting to watch.
