Day 192: Lavender Butterfly

Butterfly in the sky... I can fly twice as high... take a look... it on a lavender flower... a lavender flower... lavender flower

Day 191: Everything Is...

...Illuminated is absolutely one of my favorite movies.  It is a movie about a dog, a grandfather, a tourist and a tour guide.... actually strike that.  Elijah Wood is scared of Sammy Davis Jr. Jr., meat, and Nazis.  Go see this movie... or better yet read the book.  It will change your life... literally!

Everything Is Illuminated

Day 190: Carnivorous Woman

This flower is hardly carnivorous and hardly a woman... hum....

Day 189: Love Bugs

Two moths walk into a bar... no no... that's not it...

Two moths... one buttercup... no... not that either...

Two moths... sitting in a tree... that's better!

Day 188: Laughter is Contagious

Carrot???  Peanut Butter???  No, this is not Mr. Ed!  Brandon just told him a funny story!

Day 187: Gazing Ball Girl

There is a girl trapped in this gazing ball!  How did it happen?  Is she friendly or is she a monster in disguise waiting for her troll kiss???

Day 186: Tunnel Road

This is THE TUNNEL - of Tunnel Road!  ...or is it the end of the earth... maybe it's the end of the mountain?

Day 185: Highest Restaurant In The East

"Welcome to the HIGHEST Restaurant East of the Mississippi!!!" was the first thing that welcomed us at Mount Mitchell State Park.  The second thing that welcomed us, was an interesting man that I named Bobby complementing me on my lovely dress.  "That's a nice dress ma'am", he said.  He then asked me, "who is the fabric maker of that dress".  "I don't know, but it's about five years old. Thank you though", I said.  "Oh, well it's very gucci-esque", he said.  Wow, my $10 Ross polyester dress really made an impression with him.  Either he was really happy to see a woman in a dress at 6,684 feet, or he just liked my dress.

Day 184: Gargoyle Angst

Biltmore's beauty is too impressive to attempt to capture without visiting.  However, this gargoyle was a camera hog.  He was all dramatic and stuff.  I think he was a teenager!

Day 183: Mountaineer Inn

We stayed on Tunnel Road while in Asheville.  Our GPS below up - ding ding ding - ding ding ding - we hit another ROADSIDE ATTRACTION!  The Mountaineer Inn is an old hotel in Asheville and apparently, the giant hillbilly likes getting his picture taken!  Way to go hillbilly!

Day 182: $1.85 Short O. Henry

Today we visited the resting place of O. Henry.  We were supposed to leave $1.87, but each left only a penny.  We'll have to go back soon to leave the remaining $1.85.

$1.87

Day 181: Pack Square

This is Pack Square.  I'm not sure what is the best thing about this place, but as you can see this kid could probably tell us!

Day 180: Double Dessert?

For some reason there were a lot of guys hanging around this place.  Maybe they like dessert or maybe they like double decker buses.  I'm not quite sure, but I like the coffee.

Day 179: Chicken Alley

Cock-a-doodle-doo.  There is a doctor that lived here on Chicken Alley - or lives here.

Fay 178: Just Say Jury

Two days of jury doodie can be stinky if you actually don't have to be at jury duty.  No trial, no question, not even an opportunity to meet a new friend.  I remember now why I do not work in Randolph County.

Day 177: Bag O'Hara

Eleven inches was cut off my hair today so it could go to Locks of Love.  After getting my hair chopped off and donating it, I found it off went to the Tories!

Locks of Love

Day 176: Blue Dinosaur

We found an actual payphone today.  I don't recall ever using one of these out of necessity, but I do remember using them to make prank calls.  That reminds me, did you know your refrigerator is running?

Day 175: RHS Sunset

As you can see, the sun sets much prettier over Randleman than Asheboro.  Football season is near!

Day 174: Tree Graffiti

Is it Pisgah or is it the LOST island?  I think I see an Other!

Day 173: Pisgah Flowers

I can gaze at Pisgah's yellow flowers
...for hours and hours and hours

Day 172: Doctor Veggies?

Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers...
...or in this case... green and red ones.  Is it Christmas yet?

Day 171: Russet Recipe

The heart of the potato was left in Idaho!

We didn't have a recipe when we started out tonight, but had potatoes and a fridge of ingredients to add.

Day 170: Smurf House

This week there were Smurf houses growing in our yard.  We tried to watch them play with no luck.

Day 169: Red, White and Blue

Feeding ghosts???

Day 168: Snack Day!

Today was snack day at work, which means all kids of yummies!  Today I tasted my first ghost pepper!  Just a mustard seed size brought me to tears.  I also had an amazing "heaven pie".  My contribution was store-bought.  Hecho en Mexico!

Day 167: Color My Plate

Today we made salads with as many colors as we could.  Topping it off was Trader Joe's Goddess salad dressing, which I have to admit gives Annie's a run for her organic dollar!  Annie's Goddess has been my favorite for years (tip mix with an equal amount of ranch), but Trader Joe's is 1/2 the price.

Day 166: Tomato Tomahto

Yellow and red

Day 165: Yes Sir

Tonight we had Sir Pizza, our local favorite non-chain pizza chain.
